President Obama welcomed the Dalai Lama to the White House this week as the Dalai Lama was in the capitol for an 11-day Buddhist ritual.

The White House kept the meeting low-key, closing it from the news media. They chose the Map Room for the visit instead of the Oval Office, which is reserved for visiting heads of state.

On Saturday he also attended World Peace event on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol hosted by Whoopi Goldberg.

In related news: The Obama family made their way to St. Johns Church in Washington DC yesterday…..then took in the women’s USA v Japan soccer game (where we lost) at the White House.
