Love is giving up all you have for them. God gave up his only son for us and in that showed us the greatest love ever given. While we hated God, he still loved us enough to have his only son go from heaven (perfection) to nothing. Jesus was born into a nasty, smelly, gross barn filled with animals just so he could one day be with us. Have you ever known a love like that?
John 3:16 says it all: for God so loved the world he sent his ONE AND ONLY son (he sent the one he loved most) that whoever (any one! You can’t not qualify for this love!) believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (after you die, you live in heaven! Heaven is perfection! You live forever with God where there is no crying or hunger, it’s all good and perfect there!)

I just love hearing the innocence and honesty of children. What a wonderful idea to use this as a post. Well done. I think the truth is that what is coming through here is that love is actually selflessness. Love is selflessly checking that the coffee is okay to drink, or that the loved one has the best bit of chicken etc. Biologist Jeremy Griffith talks about Love being unconditional selflessness in his article here: http://www.worldtransformation.com/what-is-love/
